Join us as we hear from Lori Goodman, licensed social worker and owner of River Shores Counseling, on breaking barriers within ourselves: a conversation about vicarious and shared trauma, and attorney burnout. During this program Lori will discuss special mental health considerations/vulnerabilities for attorneys. Attendees will learn the signs and symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and how to recognize burnout, vicarious traumatization and compassion fatigue in themselves, their colleagues, and their clients. Additionally, attendees will learn powerful techniques for attorney self-care and what to do if you are experiencing symptoms from one of more of these conditions, and what to do if you fear a colleague is in trouble. Finally, attendees will discover how to eliminate the stigma around mental health and counseling by reframing counseling as coaching for themselves and their clients.
This year, JWLA is continuing its efforts of community outreach and giving back to the local community. For each luncheon, we will spotlight a local charity or other nonprofit organization and will conduct a donation drive, to be collected at that month’s luncheon. This luncheon, we will be spotlighting and collecting donations for Pace Center for Girls. Pace provides girls and young women an opportunity for a better future through education, counseling, training, and advocacy.
