Deciding to be Civil: Redefining Pre-Trial Intervention by finding and helping "Throwaway Kids"

Join the Jacksonville Women Lawyers Association for a compelling luncheon featuring the Honorable Steven M. Fahlgren. Drawing from his extensive experience in the Felony and Family Law divisions, and his recent recognition as ABOTA’s Jurist of the Year, Judge Fahlgren will challenge our traditional understanding of pre-trial intervention.
This session moves beyond statutes to explore the "crisis of the throwaway kid" and the critical role of resiliency in the justice system. Judge Fahlgren will share personal insights into the turning points that change lives, offering a call to action for the legal community to "become the village" for at-risk youth. Attendees will gain a deeper perspective on how legal advocacy and judicial discretion can intersect to create meaningful intervention and long-term rehabilitation.

This year, JWLA is continuing its efforts of community outreach and giving back to the local community.  For each luncheon, we will spotlight a local charity or other nonprofit organization and will conduct a donation drive, to be collected at that month’s luncheon.  This luncheon, we will be spotlighting and collecting donations for Head Start and ECS4Kids which help families ensure their children enter school ready to learn! Monetary donations can be made at the luncheon.

We hope you will join in on our effort to give back to our local community.  Any questions can be directed to Katelyn Johnston at [email protected]
