For the first Health and Wellness event this year, we will be stepping away from the practice of law and into ornithology--we are going on a bird-watching tour!

Stephanie Holden, the sister of our Secretary, Brittany Ford, has graciously volunteered her knowledge of all things bird watching to JWLA. Stephanie leads these types of walks regularly and really knows her stuff, so this is going to be a great chance to learn about the birds of Northeast Florida and see them in their natural habitat.

UPDATE: Due to the status of the trails at Blue Cypress Park, we will be moving to the walk to Reddie Point Preserve, 4499 Yachtsman Way, Jacksonville, FL 32277.

We will meet at Blue Cypress Park on October 15th at 8 am and walk until around 11 am. There is no fee for admission, but you may want to bring binoculars, insect repellent, water, and snacks. There are restrooms located at the parking area but not throughout the park, so plan accordingly.

Here is a little about our guide, Stephanie Holden!

My name is Stephanie Holden. I am a member of the Duval Audubon Society (“DAS”) and have recently begun leading beginning birder walks for DAS. I have been birding for just under 3 years and have learned so many interesting things during that time; however, birds and the Audubon Society have influenced my life for many, many years. You may often hear avid birders say something about their “spark bird,” or the bird that sparked their interest. Mine was the American Goldfinch. I look forward to leading this trip with JWLA and possibly helping you find your spark bird.
