Jacksonville Women Lawyers Association (JWLA), the Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division, and the Jacksonville University Women Lawyer Student Association (JUWLSA), in partnership with Jacksonville Area Legal Aid (JALA), Three Rivers Legal Services, local courts, and charitable civic organizations, are hosting “Giving Law a Little Extra Love”— a dynamic, heart-driven event designed to expand access to justice by increasing attorney and law student engagement in pro bono legal services.

Attorneys and law students are motivated to “give back” to their communities, but many lack awareness of available pro bono opportunities or believe that they lack sufficient time to meaningfully do pro bono work.  Unfortunately, motivation without action results in unmet legal needs for vulnerable populations in Jacksonville and Northeast Florida. By reframing pro bono work as heart-driven rather than hours-driven, this program seeks to inspire and mobilize legal professionals to serve those most in need.

The event will also have a social segment. Food and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided to encourage informal networking and relationship-building.
