Volusia County Court Judge Rachel D. Myers was appointed to the bench in 2022. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Florida and her law degree from Liberty University School of Law. She was a prosecutor at the State Attorney’s Office for the Seventh Judicial Circuit from 2011-2015. She then went into private practice; first as an associate at Landis, Graham, French, P.A. and then as the managing partner at her own firm, Myers Law Group, P.A. Judge Myers currently hears civil cases at the Volusia County Courthouse in DeLand.

This session will address key issues faced by women lawyers with disabilities in the legal profession, including the challenges of accessibility and representation. Judge Myers will also highlight practical strategies for law firms, courts, and legal professionals to create an environment that is more supportive and accessible for disabled individuals.

The presentation is designed to provide valuable insights into what makes us unique as women lawyers, workplace accommodations, and diversity in the legal profession. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of both the legal and ethical considerations surrounding disability in the workplace and how to foster a more inclusive legal community.

This year, JWLA is continuing its efforts of community outreach and giving back to the local community.  For each luncheon, we will spotlight a local charity or other nonprofit organization and will conduct a donation drive, to be collected at that month’s luncheon.  This luncheon, we will be spotlighting and collecting donations for The Foundation Fighting Blindness.
