For our October luncheon, JWLA welcomes attorney, former law professor, writer, and philanthropist Kristine Cherek. Kristine is the author or the Amazon bestseller Tread Loudly: Call Out the Bullsh*t and Fight for Equality in the Workplace. Join us as Kristine shares her experiences, insights, and advice derived over her over twenty year career in the legal field. She will share the experiences, inequities, and obstacles she encountered as an associate at a large national law firm, as the general counsel of a national corporation, as a partner of a regional law firm, and as a law professor. Kristine will also shed light on the biases, inequities, and lack of gender parity that continue to exist, not just in the legal field but in broader corporate America. She will help dispel the myths of “having it all,” “work/life balance,” and the imposter syndrome so many women experience. Kristine will empower and inspire you to dream big, believe in yourself, and boldly pursue your career goals.

This year, JWLA is continuing its efforts of community outreach and giving back to the local community.  For each luncheon, we will spotlight a local charity or other nonprofit organization and will conduct a donation drive, to be collected at that month’s luncheon.  This luncheon, we will be spotlighting and collecting donations for the Jacksonville Women Lawyers Association (JWLA) Kathy Para Student Internship Fund at Jacksonville Area Legal Aid (JALA).

Lastly, in recognition of breast cancer awareness month, FAWL is encouraging affiliate chapters to wear pink (see attached graphic).
